Demo runs pretty smooth on my X2 3800+ (not oc'd) and X800GTO2 (also not oc'd). I ran it at 720p with whatever the default settings were and it looks awesome.Hopefully with a little overclocking I won't have to shell for a new card. I've been holding off on an upgrade to see how UT3 performed :).

I tried turning everything down but framerates mostly hover around the 30fps area so I just put it all high again.

I'm on an Opteron 148 at 2.53 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, and an x800xt and I had it at medium settings. I was getting at least 40-50 FPS in the vehicles CTF map, less in DM-Shangrila, but still very surprisingly playable at 1024 x 768. I'll probably lower the settings a bit for better FPS, but this good news means that I can hold out until there are hot deals on the new cards.

Thosse x800xt x850xt cards perform in somewhere in lines of 7600gt. I used to have a 850xt. They're still good if it had PS 3.0. Lot of games however need PS 3.0 now a days.

I've been out of this for a while, how do I enable a timedemo or something? It seems ok with graphics on setting 4, 7900GT and a Core2@3100mhz

I ran it with...
single core socket 939 4000+ at 2.4 GHz San Diego
X1650 XT
2GB OCZ Platinum RAM

and I got 20+ fps at 1600x1200 but I need to put it down to 1024x768 and set details lower (4 and 3) to get 30 to 50 fps. Still, vehicle CTF looks very cool and impressive. You can even walk in the water.

Don't know why I can't put weapons on center though.

I played a death match of "Heat Ray" on my overclocked 8600GTS 1440x900 16xAF everything cranked even post processing to "intense" in single player with default bots. Using Fraps to record my frame rate.

E6300 @ 3.05ghz
2 gigs
Vista x86

Min 14 Max 67 Avg 47.937

I think my minimum was when my hard drive was seeking right before I started recording the benchmark.

Dual core would surely kick that 7900gtx up a notch in Unreal 3.

The game ran decently on my rig at 1440x900 at texture + world settings of 3, but did stutter a lot, especially noticeable when using the minigun. I lowered the resolution to 1200x800 but don't think that fixed anything.

After going from instant action to online, and learning of the stupid vert- widescreen, I lowered to 1024x768 at texture + world details of 2, and get very playable FPS without (noticeable) stutter. I was too lazy to boot up FRAPS, all I cared was that I could actually use the minigun when I ran across it.

In other news,
The game ran better on an Athlon X2 3800+ with integrated Radeon Xpress 200 than on a Pentium 4 HT 3.0GHz with GeForce FX5200 (lol), but neither was decently playable at lowest settings (the P4/FX5200 had huge mouse telly in the menus).

Runs fine on my main system 40-60 FPS, but I'm hardly wowed by it. Lack of AA really hurts. And what's with all these new engines capping to 60 FPS, really sucks for CRT users.

Levels load very quickly, and the demo is relatively small for 3 maps, so I'm going to assume the textures that shipped with the demo are medium res at best. Also funny how "Lauren" looks and sounds like a man.

Cap can probably be disabled in the config files or via console somehow. I don't know for sure, but I wouldn't doubt it.

Yes caps can easily be removed.

Bioshock's no AA really pissed me off, as it was glaringly obvious, but honestly, i have to look for jaggies to see them in UT3; they're really not easy to see.

Mark Rein also mentioned in a post that they'll talk to nV about the no AA working by default issue.

Stolen from elsewhere:

If all you want to do is uncap FPS, go into the UTEngine.ini file and change it to this:

[Engine.GameEngine]
bSmoothFrameRate=TRUE
MinSmoothedFrameRate=150
MaxSmoothedFrameRate=200

these numbers are defaulted to 22 and 62 respectively...

and I recommend bumping this up too:

[Engine.Client]
MinDesiredFrameRate=150.000000

There are certainly some issues with this beta thus far.
Random crashing + BSODs, random loss in fps (game runs at < 25 fps regardless of settings), inability to launch, terrible menu interface, etc. etc.

I'm very happy with DM/TDM play for the most part, but vehicles/VCTF seem terrible to me thus far.

Time will tell.

Agreed.

Everything maxed with 4x AA @ 1280x960.

There are workarounds that do.

Hopefully by the time Midway ships this, Epic & AMD/nVidia have worked it out to work w/o workarounds.

Alright, I can play this game at 1280x1024 on my OCed 7900GT! I was worried that I would be able to play at that res.

Does anyone have a link for this?

Just scroll down to the texture test, there's settings 1-5 and only 1-3 actually work. Settings 4 and 5 do nothing and are using the same exact textures as setting 3. So the high quality textures for settings 4 and 5 are not in the demo. A setting of 5 in the retail game should be pretty impressive compared to what we are seeing right now.
