i want to buy it from newegg, but im not too sure if it is cd rom or dvd. my only concern is that it comes dvd, because he does not have a dvd/burner drive. can someone tell me if it is cd or dvd, because i have seen this same bundle as both dvd and cds.

It lists a DVD-ROM in the system requirements, so I'd guess it's the DVD package. DVD drives are dirty cheap these days, even burners. Good excuse for an upgrade.

You dont need a DVD burner to read DVD's but both types are dirt cheap these days.
It does say DVD-ROM in the requirements and I was pretty sure the Editors Choice version was DVD anyway.

However, I will say that retailers need to be much clearer on which version it is. This is a problem with many games. If theres a DVD THATS the one I want.
I screwed up with FEAR.
Didnt know there was a DVD version, and swapping out 5 CD's sucks.

I was just about to say "you can pick up DVD readers for 20 bucks nowadays".

Hell yeah!

I honestly dont see why people are so against upgrading their optical drive.
You sure as hell cant play any 3D games on a 20 dollar video card.
Why folks are willing to spend hundreds of dollars elseware and ignore storage devices is beyond me.

because you don't actually see any improvement with a dvd drive whereas upgrading from a ti4200 to a 7800gt will show a nice change.

Yeah definitely buy UT2004, its an awesome game and the devs deserve the money.

I got a DVD-ROM drive for free from a friend over a year ago. You don't know anyone with a spare DVD-ROM drive? I ended up selling a 16x CDRW given to me as well as that DVD-ROM for $7 and $5 at a garage sale. LOL thanks buddies.

But I think its a waste to spend $20 on that DVD-ROM when you can spend less than $40 on a DVD burner. I'd try and find a used/free DVD-ROM or convince friend to buy a DVD burner for $40 or less but still buy him UT2004 on DVD. The CD version is 5 CDs as well, you don't want that.

edit: OMG the Nec DVD burner I was referring to is down to $31!! Man the price of optical drives dropped so quickly compared to other hardware. Same thing happened with the CD burners. But that's how they got completely mainstream quickly (coupled with media that dropped in price just as fast)
