So basically, you end up paying $30 cash after the $10 rebate.

AND

You get a $20 gift card. ???

And

$10 off the $30 if you want to trade in UT2003.

That's the deal according to the EB salesperson I talked to today. I was planning on buying the game anyway, might as well get it cheap. :D

I'll check to see if it's the DVD version or not... I'm hoping it is, as I don't fancy putting in 6 cds. :Q

I have a Best Buy gift certificate so it's wait for day 1 for me.

However, I'd like to make a quick comment about the demo. I've played it now for what I would have to guess would be 50 hours and the only game I find interesting is Onslaught. Sure, there's some bugs with the vehicles rolling out from a standing position but a shot in it's butt with a flack cannon while someone guns the engine gets it rolling. As for those drooling over the anticipated maps, I agree. But if you like the vehicles in the demo what about those appearing in the retail version? Now that sounds like some real play fun. I think this will turn into a classic. As for voice over, when you're a noob as we all start out being, someone with some real savey and leadership skill can give 'advice' that is invaluable. Command and control is where this and other team based games are going.
Happy fragging.

I just got back from EBgames on Webster, (Chicago, IL)
They had no clue about this promotion, and said their POS machines don't print out rebates. Does the $20 require you to pre-order? Do other stores print MIRs? Can someone promise to scan it when they get it?

Thanks,
crobusa

This deal is bogus. I went to two EB and the only promotion is the car emblem.

Only the original poster and one other person HASNT said it is a no go.

If this deal is real please tell me which store exactly is running this promo because if one EB has a promo they all have a promo.

Does it matter which other game you trade in? I've got Half-life still and I don't play that anymore. Considering I only paid $10 for UT2003 and $20 for Half-life and I got roughly 2 years of solid TFC zen out of it, getting UT2004 by giving up these two games seems like a good deal to me.

Gonna swing by my local EB and check up on it.

stnicralisk,

I understand your frustration because the EB store much closer to my house still has no clue about this deal. Nontheless, the poster that hangs in front of the other store is real, trust me.

As far as the $20 back from EB is concerned, it is a gift check. I don't know if any other vendor will give a $20 gift card for buying this game, however, so I still think it's a good deal. Doom 3 and Half-life 2 might be out soon, so I know my $20 will probably go towards one of those. Oh, and I have played the Demo, it's fantastic.

The store clerk told me that the "other game" can be anything as long as you have the original CD and a CD key if it has one. You don't need the box, manual, or even the original case.

The store in the Springfield mall as well as the store on Kingstowne Towne Center both had the deal. The clerk at the Kingstowne store didn't really know much about it (couldn't confirm/deny the $20 "rebate" being a GC from EB) but there was a poster in a stand at the front of the store.

He also didn't know if the deal applied to a specific version (CD or DVD) but both were listed @ $39.99, so I preordered the DVD version.

I'm in Richmond VA, I thought I'd stop by my local EB and see the deal... poster outside advertised it as Mail In Rebates... no mention of gift cards however I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be one. The board also referenced the DVD version and the sales rep asked if I wanted the CD or DVD. He also stated it was for the Special Edition and wasn't sure about the headphones but said they sent the store the decals that come with it and they are more like plastic stickers. Minumum $5 deposit... I reserved 2 so it came in handy... different names. Rep states the rebates will come at time of purchase.

my receipt states:

2394526 UNRL TRN04 SPC PC

Note the bottom Link that it's the same less the 6 at the end but the other 6 numbers are a bit different for the CDROM verison

Anyway, 30 dollars and pickup at store is worth it alone, 20 dollar gift card or rebate.... bonus! I'll find something else to buy with that... like BF Vietnam or something. Long story short, damn good deal! Thanks for the lookout on this game, the demo rocks and demos never tell the full story and mods and patches will probably serve this game well.

I posted that this was bogus but it is alive

http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/239452.asp

you can get it online.

SE DVD w/ headset, and tutorials/making of bonus disk

+ 20 EB mail in gift voucher

+ 10 Rebate if you bought 2k3

+ free shipping

I wouldnt bother trading in two games for 9.99 but technically you can get it free I am getting mine for 19.99 and I would say thats a killer deal.

PS anyone want to sell me their 2k3 manual ;)

I assume this is B&M only. Online, the $20 gift voucher ask you to send a store receipt dated between 3/17/04 and 4/12/04. I guess I can wait.

I meant for the 20 gift certificate. All they require is the purchase receipt for the 20.

where is the $20 voucher? what kind of limitations of games for trade in? Any PC game? is CD+jewel case+manual good enough or do I need the original box (I never keep these)

Also on UT2K3, I only have CDs + manual (CD-Key inside) so is this enough for the $10 off from EB games AND $10 off from Atari? If I give everything away to EB Games, how am I going to prove to Atari that I purcahsed the game?

The online coupon is for purchases made between feb 27 and april 5. If we've preordered prior to feb 27 what should we do? Cancel and reorder?

Just look up the game on the EB website, and open the link to the coupon. The coupon will work for B&M or online purchase, just need to send the reciept and UPC from the game. It should work, Iv'e done it before with other game promotions from EB.

The coupon says specifically to include the EBgames.com packing slip. I fail to see how a receipt alone is gonna cut it?

Atari's post on the $10 rebate It basically says you need the cover from the manual of your copy of UT'03 and the rebate will be included inside your copy of UT'04.

EBgames $20 mail in gift voucher which is good on your next purchase there.
