Anyone buy this? Should I drop the 45 bucks for all the games or just get some separately? I think it sounds like a good enough deal. Thoughts? I enjoyed the demos of UT3 but haven't played a finished product yet.

UT2k4 >*

Unreal was ok for SP, 2k4 totally nullifies the point in having 2k3. While I played UT99 and enjoyed it, after having 2k4 there is no road back. Unreal 2 was meh, UXP (UMXP?) can't remember which, whatever the Unrela 2 Multiplyaer was quasi-fun but died almost instantly...

basically buy 2k4 and save yourself 25 bucks or however much cheaper it is seperately.

Also keep in mind all the UT games are dead when it comes to MP, so unless u really like dueling or playing bots, there is no purpose.

Unreal - Very much worth it. One of the best games ever in many ways. I would recommend it over all the others for single player. It does nearly everything well.

Unreal Tournament - Best Tournament game. Very well polished and has a near limitless number of mods and maps for it. Out of all the games this one has by far the most custom content for it.

Unreal II - A good game in it's own right but not anywhere near the quality of the original. It is not a true sequel but more of a generic, but well designed, shooter. Has some good ideas but not are all implemented well.

Unreal Tournament 2004 - Overall great game and has the largest online community of any of the games. Also is packed with content. Has some questionable decisions made in regards to the gameplay from the original but is still fun to play. I think the original is superior in terms of gameplay but it is debatable.

Unreal Tournament 3 - If you liked the demo you will enjoy this game. Overall very good in some ways but totally stupid in others. For example, map design is amazing as usual per Epic Games standards. UI is one of the worst in any games. Gameplay is a mixture of UT2004 and UT99. Online community is nonexistant although modding community is very active. If you liked the demo I would say get this game.

Also keep in mind all the UT games are dead when it comes to MP, so unless u really like dueling or playing bots, there is no purpose.

According to gamespy stats UT2004 has 3800 players right now and it's not even peak times. UT99 has 1800 and UT3 has 580.

Overall I would say Unreal and UT are must buys. They are also the cheapest out of all the games.

you can buy unreal anthology for $10, that's 4 games + expansion pack + audio cd
they are sold out of UT3 but they sell a special UT3 + "pistol mouse" bundle for $33

So you get the physical cd's + cases + gaming mouse for less than $45, though after shipping I suppose it'll be about $50 total.

That is not true. It depends on what exactly you want to play and when you want to play.

For UT 2004, you can still find populated public servers for Onslaught (in North America try the Omnip)o(tents and Death Warrant: Spam Vikings servers) and presumably Deathmatch. I know that there are also servers for Assault and one of the most popular games is Invasion Monster Hunt RPG (which is a lot of fun--try the Death Warrant servers).

For UT99 you can find action for Deathmatch and various Capture-the-Flag mods (sniper, instagib). Sadly, it's hard to find populated public servers for regular weapons Capture-the-Flag though you can find some action at the Haley's Hothouse servers. (For serious UT99 CTF players, there are clan-match style 5-on-5 PUG matches that happen every night--visit irc.GameRadius.net #speedpug to find them.) Sadly, UT99 no longer has any activity for Domination, which was a great game, and little for Assault.

Most players regard UT99 as having been superior to UT 2004 in terms of its game play and feel (no floaty-dodgeyness and its resultant emphasis on hitscan ability), but UT 2004 might be your best bet since Onslaught is a hell of a lot of fun and you can still find populated Onslaught servers. I say get both UT99 and UT 2004.

You have to take the UT 2004 stats with a grain of salt because the UT 2004 server browser counts bots as regular human players, which was one of the most retarded decisions Epic ever made.
