When the foe dies, it might be the Karma physics engine kicking in using up the CPU that slows the game down a bit as it works out what the foe does as it dies. Maybe you could try it with physics turned down? (if that's still an option)

I think it might just be loading the animation of the creature dying... cause they move in ways that they don't usually move when they die. I don't have the same problem, but I just thought I'd throw out a possibility.

the animation of the creature dieing is controlled by the physics engine... you just repeated what the above poster said in a different way...

And now I made a post about nothing too... +1 for both of us ;)
