I answered your Carmack vs. Romero thread, but this is just juvenille troll bait. Unreal Warfare is where tech is NOW and Doom III will be where tech is NEXT YEAR.
Unreal LOOKED better than Quake 2, but Q2 had far superior network code and dominated online play as a result. Q3 looked great and played great, but UT was a better overall game with better variety of levels, weapons and game types to compensate for slightly less glitzy graphics.
As for the idiotic, ". I barely know anyone who still plays UT but Quake III is still ubiquitous." comment, let's look at the GameSpy stats for this moment:
Half-Life: 21061 servers, 74114 players
Medal of Honor Allied Assault: 927 servers, 5459 players
Quake 3: Arena: 2708 servers, 4012 players
Unreal Tournament: 2835 servers, 3597 players
Return to Castle Wolfenstein: 1015 servers, 3155 players
Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast: 846 servers, 2083 players
Soldier of Fortune 2: 371 servers, 2050 players
If anyone's whoopin' anyone, it's HALF-LIFE!!! By the time you realize that CS accounts for a lot of that lead, you realize that over THREE TIMES as many people are playing HL and mods than the next six games COMBINED.
Your handle advertises your prejudices nicely, but you should change it to a more accurate handle: iDiot
G'bye!
