For game Mode:

Assault (New in UT2004)
Assault mode returns! Redesigned for UT2004, this fan-favorite mode sees teams face-off to defend and attack fortified bases, from fast-moving trains, barreling across an arid alien desert to a Skaarj mother ship, poised to attack the human home world.

assault mode = a group of human players vs a group of comp? and the purpose of this mode is (I mean.....is it just kill all enemy = victory? )

Onslaught (New in UT2004)
Onslaught mode takes team combat to the next level! Opposing teams are pitted against each other to capture and hold strategic points in order to attack and destroy the enemy power core. Taking place in massive outdoor environments, here is where vehicular combat comes into its own. Flying and driving machines take combatants to the frontline and gigantic mobile battle stations serve as a platform from which to launch devastating attacks.

This game mode should allow players to take control over vehicles and since Unreal 04 has both ground and air units. When we play this mode, can we play ground units vs air units or only ground vs ground n air vs air ?

For "Unreal 04: Editor's Choice Edition" , bestbuy said that this version has MORE maps and MORE vehicles, then
1. how many more maps?
2. how many more vehicles?

compare with the original.

Thank you

Obviously you can turn on bots and customise them to make up the enemy team, but most internet server are human vs human.
There are 3 new vehicles in the ECE compared to the original retail (they came as part of a free bonus pack) and I'm not sure how many extra maps.

Onslaught has both air and ground units on the same map.
Assault requires specific objectives to be done (ie: activate a switch, blow up a door), and to win you have to do all of the objectives.

I don't know of anyone paying much attention to Assault, though I'm sure it had a few fans somewhere.

Onslaught is all you need -- the vehicle plus on-foot player combat had me addicted for months. I've overcome the addiction, but I have thought a few times about installing the latest patch and firing it up again.

Assault is from the first UT, which has infiltrate objectives against your opponents. You basically start at one end of the map and must make your way through the opposing teams defenses to an ultimate goal. You typically have check-points along the way that let you respawn there once your team has made it that far. After you successfully defeat the opposition, the game restarts with the roles reversed, and you must defend your base against their assault. You must defend for a time equal to the amount they took to conquer your bases, so speed matters.

Onslaught is somewhat similar, except that both teams start at opposite ends of the map and must fight to gain and hold control points scattered along the way, ultimately attempting to gain all points, so that you may attack the other's base. This is different from assault in that instead of taking turns attacking and defending, you do both simultaneously. Vehicles are also scattered about the map for you to pick up and use. Some vehicles can only be used by the team which currently has captured a node near that vehicle, so there is a strategy involved in where you would to spend your effort.

In either mode, you can configure teams however you want with a mix of human opponents and PC bots.
