Unreal 2

I cant believe that a part of the minimum requirements of this game must have 256mb of RAM.

In fact I couldnt run this game w/ my 256mb DDR on default settings. I tried disabling all of my system trays w/c only had volume, anti-virus, and activesync but still the game exits whenever I start gameplay. Maybe this game might run on my system but w/o sound which is silly. I really should buy a dimm tomorrow to also prepare my system for the next lineup of games.

RAM is cheap as dirt. Go buy another 256mb card and get over it.....your rig will be much happier with 512 in it anyway.

People complain about the system requirements, but people would also complain if the games was released and it had the same graphics as Half-Life did in 1998.

People are never satisfied...

I hated how (when the P100 just came out) the game Cybermage was given a terrible rating because it required basically 8mb or 16mb of ram.. they said doom was better because it ran fine with 4mb - even though Cybermage could go 640*480 on 8mb ram... Cybermage was much better than doom or doom 2 - it came out between the two.

U2 looks like it will kick ass.. if I have to upgrade to play it, I will just wait to play it.. no big deal..

i would assume if you have it already its a pirated copy
unless its been released already 🙂
and if it is a pirated copy, im sure that could be part of the problem

It IS released.

And if you are really CHEAP - make a "Partition" on your HD for Win98SE . . . Unreal II should run "fine" with 256MB RAM on the older O/S.

I have 512mb of DDR and it runs fine. Slow loading times, but it's working fine. Just buy some more ram.

i run with 1gig. i actually bought myself 512 but someone asked me to buy them soem also. since it was on sale and he didnt want to pay for shipping. well the bastard didnt pay me so i kept the memory 🙂

not that i need that much. but err its neat!

dont have it yet but im gettin it, have 512 DDR hopefully itll run fine

I've not checked my actual FPS but it runs fine at 1280x1024@32 on my rig (Ti4600 + XP1700 + 512DDR).

wow sweet
i better go pickup my copy today 🙂 will it run ok on a radeon 9000 128 meg card?
i dont think its the pro

Yeah.. this game exits whenever I enable EAX. That was the reason I had problems with this game. Since my sb live drivers are new, Ill just wait for a patch to enable it.

Maybe this game doesnt run EAX if you only have 256mb of ram. Ill find it out tomorrow after i install my additional dimms.

I cant wait to hear what actual gameplay is like ... from the members here .. rather than a 'evaluator' for a game magazine..
.. I assume that the graphics are outstanding ... from those who are running stable ...

.. but how about the storyline ?... physics? ... weapons ?... picked up items and thier use...? any secrets ..?
I know it hit the shelf today ... so ... I give you guys ... umm ... 2 days ... 🙂

Don't bother. I have 512 and EAX no workie for me.

I can say after playing it for a while the graphics are off the hook GOOD. The weapons own also the alt fire button makes some cool stuff. I am not having any problems playing the game with my P4 at 2.3 and Radeon 9700 Pro. As for gameplay its pretty straight forward shoot and kill not alot of puzzle solving and most of the time getting energy and shields are easily findable. I am not done with it yet taking my time enjoying it but my friend finished it in about 8 to 10 hours like the reviews have stated. Its not the best fps game of all time but I am having some fun with it due to the great graphics and cool weapons. The robot guy Nedam or whatever his name is really a cool guy to talk to, and looks like Aida got her some planetary implants lol.

What soundcard do you have? Im at 512mb already but still doesnt work either. Since I have an sb live so maybe this game only supports 'EAX advanced HD' (for audigy series).

I just got the game yesterday and am loving it. I'm running a Xp1600+ (stock speed), 512 pc2700 ddr, and a gf4 ti4200 128mb (stock speed) and it runs and looks good at 1024*768, 16bit color.

Only real flaw I've seen yet has to do with the enemy AI. Once the skaarj are alerted to your presence, they're a PITA to kill. But on the early powerplant level, you can move around the perimeter of the map, wade through the water and walk right up on a skaarj who is laying on his stomach ready to ambush. You can't shoot him and he won't acknowledge you're there. Not that big of a deal.

Edit: Actually, he does acknowledge your presence. His head turns and follows you as you walk around him. He just doesn't attack until you back away from him a good distance.

He's not a robot, he's a slug prince in a robotic suit, and his name's Ne'Ban.
