Unreal 2

My latest CGW mag says it's being released 11/20/02. Anyone know anything? the official site doesn't say.

Unreal is a first person shooter in the classic sense, with missions, enemies, etc. UT is a first person shooter which exists solely for the purpose of fragging.

Unreal is a single player game, like the Quake or Quake 2 with a purpose and storyline. UT is killing everyone and everything, mostly.

I plan on buying it... I played the Doom 3 demo and I don't care too much for it - too cramped, not any beautiful scenery, probby a John Carmack-style story line (that means you kill respawning monsters by the ton)...


The Unreal 2 screen pics look vast and interesting. It's something I want to play. Plus, no amount of gore will scare the crap out of me like a good ol 10 minutes of exploring only to be screamed at from behind by a monster when I almost get lost in the exploration.

OK, how about my original question. Is it being released tomorrow or not? I thought they were delaying it until 2003 so as not to interfere with UT2K3.

Ah, so Unreal is like DeusEX, kinda? I get it. FPS shooter w/missions. Those are actually my favs. Ala RTCW/MoHAA/etc. Thank you.

I LOVED the original Unreal. I bought two 12 MB Voodoo2s and slapped them in my PII450 just for that game. It's graphics were lightyears ahead of anything else at the time. Hell, it still looks pretty good today.

Wow, i'm suprised. I thought this:

characterized doom3 pretty well. The original Unreal was fun every once in a while when there was a scripted event, but between those events, it was boring, the weapons sucked, and did i mention it was boring? Let's hope they have some sort of interesting missions this time around.

Unreal II: The Awakening has indeed been delayed until January of next year
