Well, I played Unreal 1 since the begining, and was a great time, I remember my Voodoo 2 and 3 from 3Dfx , the Unreal community grew up quickly when new maps started to show up in Nali City, of course Unreal 1 is known all over the world. UT was made for the bad bots from the Unreal 1 , UT was like a add on pack for the Unreal family but grew fastest because the Unreal engine is great thanks to Sweeny the geek from Unreal. I m still playing the Unreal 1 in the scoop game, and I got from www.oldunreal.com the OpenGl file for the game, awesome.Unreal 1 will alway be in my hard drive, I think Epic is doing a big mistake here, is going to happen something similar to Duke Nukem 2. You see, this guys always are crying in the forum o interview because they dont get the money scoop they want, is bull s....., because Whatever game Epic thow in the box the people buy it, right away so they dont much care about us and our opinions.

Personally it doesn't bother me at all because it means that the single player experience will be better. UT2 will be the game for multiplayer support.

I am more into single player myself. So I am looking forward to it. And likeBFG10k said, Unreal Tournament 2 is for mp. So it evens out in my mind.

its definately a big dissapointment in my book... now i'd have to buy 2 titles just to have a great single player AND a multiplayer... they should bundle the 2 together and sell them both together at $59.99.... considering they're making us buy BOTH games now ;)

just my $.02...

I think this way we'll get the best of both worlds. I mean, Unreal and UT are totally different games, so I think having an Unreal 2 and a UT2 is only logical.

Yep and you don't need to worry about MP game balancing ruining the SP experience.

A little disappointing, but if it makes the single player better I'll still be getting it.

Unreal2, is quite simply, a single player game. Sure, it'll have MP capabilities, but its base is NOT going to be MP. The engine that powers Unreal2 is probably going to be seen in UT2, so we'll have MP anyhow. Besides, Epic is smart, the UnrealScript is going to be pretty similar (if not, exactly the same), so making mods won't be any different than now.

I'm mildly disappointed as it means I'll have to wait longer for new Unreal engine based multiplayer, but as the others say. Unreal is all about the Single player. It's good to see games that focus on SP now, with the big MP craze that's going on that makes for crap SP games bundled with an average MP game.

From my perspective, I'm stuck on 56k for the time being, and MP is almost non-existant for me. Hearing this means that they will concentrate more on a SP campaign, which is what I'll be buying the game for.

I never played the original Unreal though, just UT. Did the original have some solid MP support?

I would highly recommend buying the original Unreal. This game is fantastic! You should be able to pick it up almost anywhere for $10 or less and this game is well worth it.

In addition, there is a UT mod that allows you to play Unreal using the UT engine making the game experience even better.

This part is cool. I may try it out just for that. Thanks. :)

No wait no more men, go and get the Unreal Gold you have in the package; Unreal 1 + Return to Nali Pali + MP that people still are play (myself too) + hundred of files and Maps in Nali City for the original Unreal. In the begining of the game you gonna be speechless. Everything for $10 bucks.

Yup, the original Unreal is great. It was the first game to include great bot support for multiplay too.
