Unreal 2 broken

I am constantly getting errors when trying to install Unreal 2 (akin to a 7 year itch maybe?), and I believe there was a patch for this at some point in time. But I'm not sure. Anyone have any ideas?

What errors are you getting?

If it doesn't install the patch doesn't do any good (but is readily available online).

There are issues with EAX audio, and installing if you have virtual drives configured.
