Unpartitioned Space?

So I just built a new PC with a 120GB drive in it. In XP setup, I created 2 partitions, each about 55GB. I formatted the first as NTFS and installed windows on it, thinking I could just format the other one later. Well, now, the missing 55 GB is not showing up anywhere.

I tried disk management. Not there. I tried using Partiton Magic to make a new partition. No go (error telling me it can't create a new partition). I tried using the xp install disc to see the unpartitoned space. I can't see it.

How in the heck do I format the rest of the drive?

TIA 🙂

This just occured to me...i'm probably going to have to delete the parition, format the whole drive, then recreate partitions, right?

That would be the method to use to be certain of having that second partition but I cannot understand why the second partition is not available now as it is.

I would NOT do that. Try partition magic. It will analyze your disk and tell you if you have additional space available.

Reformatting and reinstalling is a major PITA and unnecessary in many cases.

Problem solved. Newbie error.

I had the jumper set on the wrong side...I looked at the diagram backwards. Instead of it being a master, it was being limited to 32GB 😱
