Its on Steam, you may see it as Hero and Daughter+ (bonus features) and its cheap.
Made with RPG Maker, it has annoyingly cute graphics and music. Most of the characters are disgustingly cute, even worse than the average RPG Maker title.
Some minor features:
Your hero is level 1 and never advances. You can slowly build your hero's stats by eating at the restaurant and talking to people, but for the most part he'll just be defending and occasionally casting a spell. He relies on Companions for most of the fighting.
In a way its like Dragon Quest Monsters. Each companion is unique and you get them randomly as the game progresses. Theres 33 total but I think the + version has some secret companions.
You can swap them in and out at your home base ala Dragon Warrior III. They all have unique abilities and dialog. I have about 20 of them and none are a complete wash. If they dont have a ton of high powered skills then their stats are at least above average.
Dungeons are painfully simple, with a handful of chests and monsters on each run thru. Similar to Lufia II the layouts and bounty monsters are random. The end boss is always the same and after you defeat him the first time, he's only good for grinding away and getting XP.
There are some random encounters in the dungeons. Merchants, people who randomly boost or gimp your stats, a game of rock-paper-scissors, Witch who takes XP and gives you mostly junk items, a solo adventurer who gives you better loot each time you see him, an adventuring Ork who gets stronger each fight, and of course super powered enemies like metal slimes that hand over ridiculous XP if you can defeat them before they run.
All of these people disappear after you interact with them once. Make sure you have as much gold as possible before talking to the merchant. He sometimes sells excellent items like stat boosters, super potions, or even summoning stones for more companions.
Theres a dude in town who can change some aspects of your next dungeon run at no cost. More or less monsters, guaranteed items in treasure chests, and also specific dungeon layouts so you can track down bounties.
Another dude in town buys old junk (some of which is surprisingly valuable) and gives you bounties, which are darn good for income.
Theres a spell salesman and normal shops for a simple JRPG.
The town itself gains XP and levels up, opening more shops and giving sellers more goodies in their inventory.
Combat can get horribly repetitive but its necessary in order to level up your companions. Having said that, you dont need to grind away at low levels when you get a new girl. Your hero collects XP but never levels up, instead he can pass on that XP to the girl of his choice, making it easy to create the party you like with minimum grinding.
Theres also a home-building aspect but I found it useless and a waste of time.
Overall, I like.
Recommended for gamers who can stomach the horrific cuteness.
