I full expect Bush to fall back on one or more of these reasons for invading Iraq at tonight's debate:

-Didn't rewind rental tape
-Mixed recyclables
-Wrote a book
-Reads books
-Throws like a girl
-Is too tall
-Fuzzy math
-Prevented OBGYNs from practicing their love
-Wanted us to pass a global test
-Is a BIG GAY

Thanks to Wonkette :D

Aren't we going to just get idiotic questions tonight?

Rhodes of AA points out these people are idiots right now if they're even vaguely undecided AFTER ALL THIS. Heck, I still give them more credit than neocons. ;)

Kerry will be caught off guard when Bush puts his fingers into his ears
(and they touch in the middle)
and begins chanting "nener - nener - nener" from his podium.

Bush is very good at making speeches. He goes in, reads the prompts and sounds like someone you would like to go get drunk with. Beyond that he has little going for him. He is impatient and easily manipulated, which I think Kerry can use to his advantage. Kerry will need to not make Bush look TOO bad, because he would come off as a bully. He can steer Bush and keep him off guard, letting Bush make all the mistakes all on his own.

"Unemployment is at 5.4%"? Big deal. That's the lowest it's been since 9/11. Unemployement was higher than that through Clinton's entire first term. 10 times out of the last 14 elections, the incumbent won the election when unemployement is less than 5.6%.

"Stock is 500 points lower than the day you took office"? Big deal. It can move that much in a week.

"Jobs are being outsourced"? Big deal. Look at #1 above. It's not affecting our unemployment rates. And outsourced labor allows you to buy goods much cheaper than if the workforce was entirely domestic.

Not to mention if the crap jobs get outsourced but unemployment changed very little, then people likely got better jobs.

im scared...I think this debate will either make for break Bush. If he doesn't stop the bleeding then this election is over IMO. If Bush has a performance like he had the first one then this election is OVER. If pulls out a debate like in 2000 then this race will still be his to win imo.

Actually I don't think that is the case. While Bush has to perform tonight I don't think the election hinges on the debate. There is too much to the campaigns and issues that I don't think debate "performance" will win/lose it for either candidate. There are a small number of "undecideds" this time around so the dramatic swing from a debate just isn't likely.

Brokaw just made an interesting prediction about how Bush will make fun of himself.

(Wow msnbc just showed a clip of Reagan getting owned by Mondale in the 84 debate; Reagan looked scared [didn't matter in the end though]).

PS interestingly the earpiece theory is leading in the polls. :p
