Unofficial Overcloking Instruction: How to apply the Loctite Rear Window Defogger Kit.

I've done about a half dozen or so T-Birds/Durons with the Defogger Repair Kit. All in all I found that most things used to apply it suck royally! The best thing I've found so far (very similar to DaddyG was suggested to me by BiggDog on these boards. As per his suggestion, I simply took a pocket knife and sliced a very thin shaving off of a piece of wood. WORKED LIKE A CHAMP! I would say that I did the whole application with that sliver of wood in about 90 seconds! The liquid adheres to the wood better than plastic or metal and since it's alread a "line", all you do is touch it down on the two sides of the bridge and VOILA, you're done!

BTW, I think the longest I've waited for the stuff to "cure" has been about 10 minutes... that's how long it took me to put on silver grease and a hedgehog. The stuff dries (evaporates) at an incredible rate... I would say that it dries faster than any normal human could even get it into a machine an set up.

Does the Loctite Rear Window Defogger kit come with a little bottle and a small package? You use the little bottle right?

Edsel, i got my loctite at the pep boys in el cerrito.

lundog, yes, that's the package, and yes you use what's in the bottle. people use different things for the applicator, but i'd recommend a magnifying glass to help you see and a small sliver of wood to paint the liquid on.

The reason I am asking is because the little bottle is called Accelerator for Loctite and come with a little pack of adhesive pouch.
And people are telling me I should get the Grid repair kind instead. The Package I got is called Loctite Rear Window Defogger with Tad Adhesive under it. Can anyone help?

I missed this thread, but did something very similar. I just tried it cause the pencil sounded dubious to me. I wanted something seemingly more permenent.

The brand I bought is "permatex" at bottom of package says "item # 15067". It is a goldish brown liguid in a little bottle. Sounds like the exact same stuff as the loctite. I probably would have bought the loctite if I had read this thread first. But mine is working fine.

okay, wrong stuff. you need the grid repair kit.
