You didn't put a reply titled: Yes, shotgun or rifle

That would have been my reply so I didn't respond.

Deer numbers have to be taken down and atleast with a bow its some what sporting.

Bears aren't predators. They eat fish and berries mostly, certainly not deer.

Here in the west you rarely see anyone hunting deer with a shotgun. Range is too great. Sometimes you see bow hunters but they stake out an area that deer regularly habitate and wait for them to get close enough. It is mostly sitting in a cold tree stand for hours and waiting.

I have a .300 Winchester Magnum I've gone 'hunting' with but I never even saw a deer let alone shot at one. More like armed hiking.

Well in Seattle, there's always problem with overpopulation of Canadien geese.
Instead of letting the public killing them as "sports", the government hires professional to kill them.
I don't see how hunting for fun make sense, "hunters" are making a mockery out of mother nature.
I've seen those shows on ESPN2 of them bragging about killing an animal, what a joke.
I guess the geese are less dead if a professional kills them, eh?

So people should be killing these animals with their bare hands??

And it's not about the shows 'bragging' about a kill. It's just a show, showing somebody hunting. It's no different than a show on fishing.

Just saw this on the front page of Friday's paper.

Vehicles, Deer On Collision Course
  • Annually, an estimated $60.6 million in motor vehicle insurance losses occur in Ohio alone, accounting for about $2,000 worth of damage per vehicle.
State figures also point out that five fatalities resulted from deer-motor vehicle crashes along with 898 injuries.
"Damage varies dramatically depending on the type of vehicle, its speed upon impact and what area of the automobile is struck," said Mitch Wilson, vice president of public information and education for the Columbus-based Ohio Insurance Institute.
My county (smallest in the sate) recorded 345 deer-motor vehicle crashes for the year. We ought to allow bow hunting year round!

My brother-in-law's mother was killed last week in a car accident when she hit a deer. Yeah, I think deer hunting is OK.

I live in Columbus, OH... my family has 3 farms about 40 miles southeast of here. I personally don't hunt, just cause I get no enjoyment out of it. I'm the only one in my family that doesn't hunt, though. My brother & sister both do, my dad does, and I think my mom even has once. We have a bunch of friends that go down from Columbus every year and go hunting for a week or so around thanksgiving. We have an old cabin on our farm... fire up the furnace about a day before they get there, make sure the lights work, etc. After extremely long, cold days hunting... they come inside the cabin and relax.

We always have at least 10 deer killed each year.

Just heard from my buddy, he bagged a nice doe. And has the pictures to show it.

Now THIS is how you drop a deer quickly, painlessly, and with next to no suffering.

***Warning***This pic is of a deer heart with a perfect broadhead piercing going through it. Don't click if you are offended by gore.

You can't shoot any better than this.

Aweseome. The first buck I shot dropped dead, as long as you get them in the vitals they're done for.

Great night tonight, only saw a small 8 pointer (smaller than the two six i have seen). gotta get some rest to get an early morning hunt tomorrow. Got a grunt caller today, see how that works tomorrow. Howd everyone else do?
