Fuzzy, can I ask how you got the blue effect in your blue streaks photo? Also, did you use a filter to get the light sources to show up as stars? Your picture album is fantastic.. I really like the clean look (across the board) of all your shots!

To get the blue effect, set the color temperature of the picture to something cooler, like 1500K and tweak the tint until you get the desire color. You can do this in practically all RAW editors, including the one that's built into Photoshop.

If you're using a JPEG, which I don't recommend, you can do almost the same thing using Image > Adjustments > Photo Filter and use a cooling filter.

As for the starbursts, the secret to them is to stop down your lens to around f/8. When it's stopped down to that area, all point light sources become starbursts.

Thanks!

Fuzzy, just realized I hadn't thanked you for your advice.

So thanks! 🙂 Hopefully I'll have a few pics up for you to critique, if you're interested.

Wow. I don't know much about photos but those look great!

You're going to be rich if you use your talent.

Did you do the same thing for that nighttime pic of Chicago from way high up?

I think so 🙂
