I know everyone with ES chips are under NDA until the 23rd but can we compile everythin that is known about AM2 so far. Lets keep it Conroe free please.

Welll.....Some still are speculating on the 333mhzHTT....Or even 266?? Maybe some models have 266 and others have the 333mhzHTT?? Hope this helps pin things down......

So DDR2 memory runs at twice the HTT frequency, making it 333Mhz, something easily achievable on all the good 939 motherboards already.

AM2 does not use a 333mhz HTT. It has been proven that amd is sticking with 200mhz for now.

Well this is what Ive heard... I thought the same thing. 667=333 and doesnt equal 200mhz but the ES Samples are def 200mhz HTT

If you've already got s939 with a PCIe mobo, then there isn't a reason to upgrade. But, for those of us on older platforms, AM2 is a viable path.

Edit - T-break must be using an older firmware or something on their testing board. AT got much better results. Link to AT's AM2 vs DDR1 article
 
I dunno if sticking with s939 will be a good idea unless you can get a good deal on the parts at that time. Prices on s939 will probably not go down until <censored> launches in July.

The only way s939 is better than AM2 is if you're using budget RAM. DDR2-533 on AM2 is a disaster.
 
DDR-400 at 2-3-2-5 = DDR2-800 at 4-6-4-10

keep in mind 1st and 3rd number are the most important in performance, and you will draw the conclusion that they are roughly the same. DDR2-667 at 3-3-3 timings actually performs better in most applications then DDR2-800 at 4-4-4. Thats because 3-3-3 timings would perform the same as the other 2 if the clock was 600. But there are exceptions to that for those bandwith hungry applications which benefit more from the higher clock of DDR2-800.

I would personally go with DDR2-800 because its a standard, the difference between 800 at 4-4-4 and 667 at 3-3-3 is negligible. Were talking 0.8 fps in a gaming environment...

But if you want to go 667, thats good too but there is no difference. Thats why they are also priced about the same.
