O come on, our B.F. Skinner was playing around with pecking pigeons as a guidance system for drone Missiles during WW2.

Don't forget Cyborg Moths that's being worked on. Hopefully the plan isn't thwarted by candles or bug zappers.

There are some of us who view the perpetually ongoing increase in the power of governments to oppress publics - from military tactics to technology to psychological practices - as ever further shifting the bar higher on the public's inability to ever meaningfully oppose the government when it is at odds with the public. I've long said the days of 2nd-amendment fans having the revolution are over forever.

There's one big impediment to the government using the US military against the American people, and that impediment is the US military. The US military is mostly made up of "2nd amendment fans" who are also pretty big fans of the rest of the constitution, and who have sworn to "defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic."

Well, South Korea has their own 'terminators' for border security, thankfully stationary-only at this stage, but with robotics, AI, encryption, metallurgy, power sources, and so forth increasing strongly and steadily, I'd say we're in for a lot of this kind of thing.

I think it's Samsung that makes them for Korea right now. There is a rapidly growing budget worldwide for these type of autonomous and/or remote-controlled weaponry. Pretty wild. The stuff we have now will look like biplanes and steamtrains in 10-20 years.

my kids are hacking skynet already... they said that someone else already got in and is using the drones as roving p0rn servers... they just laugh at me and my old school .50cal drone dropper... i just say be ready on all fronts...

You're f'n ridiculous.

I'll tell you this though, this strategy is USELESS, completely and utterly USELESS, sure we can hit ONLY the targets we need to hit but without proper air support....

I'll give it a month before i retract with every Brit from those areas. No air support, no go.

You have my word.

I guess you are in the wrong war and in the wrong place JOS. That question was more or less answered by a fellow long before fired by GWB. Quote Donald Rumsfeld, "but but but but, there are no good high value targets to be bombed in Afghanistan. Lets go to someplace like Iraq."

Air power like the naval bombardments that preceded them during WW2, are great for softening the enemy up, but it still takes boots on the ground to win the war or an occupation. And when you kill too many civilians with indiscriminate bombing, the civilians join the enemy. Thus making putting the boots on the ground required to win very hazardous and making any end victory even more difficult.

Expanded tax revenue to support expanded government is ultimately the foundation of totalitarians. Something you support wholeheartedly while I stand in opposition. Increased surveillance and automated systems are a symptom of a much larger ideological disease.

We could use a new forum rule against people making false claims about other members' views.

I support *some* government spending that you oppose. You support government spending that I oppose.

Funny, when my policies are in effect - JFK type policies - the government is smaller and spends less and has far less debt than when the self-described 'fiscal conservatives' are.

War has changed. It's no longer about nations, ideologies, or ethnicity.

It's an endless series of proxy battles fought by mercenaries and machines.

War - and its consumption of life - has become a well-oiled machine. ID-tagged soldiers carry ID-tagged weapons, use ID-tagged gear. Nanomachines inside their bodies enhance and regulate their abilities.

Genetic control. Information control. Emotion control. Battlefield control. Everything is monitored and kept under control.

The age of deterrence has become the age of control...All in the name of averting catastrophe from weapons of mass destruction. And he who controls the battlefield...controls history. When the battlefield is under total control...War becomes routine.

I don't think the Totalatarian argument is really the most likely downside to such a thing. The real potential problem is the ease in which it is to War with such a force. War Opposition is most effective when People have Friends/Family directly at risk, take that away and very few people will care one way or another.

Lets just say, for the sake of argument. We have a UAV thats controlled by software.. it identifies and destroys an enemy tank. When the UAV returns to the U.S. do the liberals spit in the face of the UAV? Or the programmer who wrote the software? I'm confused here.

That's uncalled for, makes no sense, and is just an insulting remark.

On the battlefield this resulted in the dogs tending to seek food under and thus destroying the Russian tanks with which they were familiar instead of the strange German tanks. This was not always an issue, however, as the dogs were sometimes spooked by the noise and vibration of the tank engines and fled the field immediately upon release[2]."

What are you smoking? Are you a drug crazed wide eyed pie man or something? Did you fall off the moon? Did your Mother drop you on your head in left field? Get back on your meds. You have to learn to sound normal. I can analogize your thinking to anything I like because you are too far ahead of me for me to really comprehend it. But I can make you look as stupid as I feel.

We will develop the drone technology that the terrorists will adopt to fly into our buildings. Rumsfeld was right. We have valuable targets to bomb.

A fool fights a terrorist with weapons and teaches him the art of war, but the war on terror only ends when people have reasons to live for. Do not fight people who have nothing to lose.

Remote control airplanes are cheap and simple to modify. The tech has been available for some time. There will always be conflict.

The world is what you believe. For you there will always be conflict. For others conflict ended long ago. Conflict is the struggle that is created by the illusion you aren't perfect.
