Unlocking XPs with Conductive Rubbers

Have any of you guys seen this?

Athlon XP Unlocking: The New Way!

The site isn't in english, but follow along with the pictures. They were able to connect the L1 bridges using the conductive rubber from the back of the LCD of a Nokia cell phone. Have any of you guys tried this?

If this works, it will easily become the best way to unlock. It doesn't require any "painting" of the L1 bridges, and it is easily removable; in case you need to return the processor, no one can tell if you violated the warranty or not.

Can anyone verify that this works?

The relavant pictures are on pages 2 and 4. It looks liek they took the rubber from a calculator LCD to accomplish the same thing. This idea seems a lot better than masking the L1 bridges, filling in the holes, etc.

BTW, the cost for a replacement LCD for the Nokia phone is $1.70 on Yahoo shopping. This would be a lot cheaper than conductive pens and the like.

Yup, cut it in half lengthwise and also in the middle if you're looking @ it from the side (top and bottom have non-conductive rubber). Make sure you cut it the right way so the conductors are facing the correct direction, tape it on and shazam.

Some folks have had a problem with this and fried their cpus... I think they were careless and cut the conductor so that it connected the bridges on the same side of the pits, not across like it should.

I'm looking @ mine, just need something to cut it with. Don't have an xacto knife handy @ the moment and want to look @ it under a magnifying glass.

If you want something removable... just use radio shack thermal paste to fill in the pits (non-conductive, non-capacitative), wipe the contacts clean and use silver conductive ink to connect the bridges. Pretty simple and easy to clean up.
 
Yes, its hard to see form the pictures. Basically, the "rubber" consists of alternating conducting and insulating bands.

The lines (|) would represent insulators, the open spaces would be a conductor. The insulators run completely through the rubber; in other words, each conducting row is completely insulated from the other conducting rows.

If you line up the conducting rows on top of the L1 bridges, then the conducting rows will connect each bridge without interconnecting them to each other (thanks to the insulators).

Apparently the spacing of the Nokia conductors just happen to be perfect for this.

Apparently not all cellphone LCDs use this "rubber" technology. I ripped apart a Motorolla cellphone that was dead (someone spilt pop on it), but the LCD did have anything like a conductive rubber on the back of the LCD (much to my dissappointment). Perhaps this is why everyone is so concerned with Nokia phones as opposed to some other brand.

Anyway, I couldn't find a rubber from that phone, so anyone have any ideas of where I might buy a Nokia conductive rubber without resorting to Yahoo? I mean, the shipping is more than the rubber itself, which is really lame. They could just put it in an envelope with a 32 cent stamp, but they charge $5.

Well, rather than paying a whole $6.70 plus a piece of scotch tape to unlock your processor, you could go out and buy a phone to tear apart...or spend more in time and money trying one of the other numerous methods out there.

Why is everyone is so afraid of unlocking the XP? I did mine in no time, it was very easy and straightfoward. You have to be really stupid (or unlucky) to mess it up...

Because they don't want to destroy a good cpu. How did you go about it?

it was an 1800xp, one of the 'greenies' The unlocking failed miserably but now it will boot as a 2000xp so I am not too bothered.
