Unlocking Xeons

Would anyone know the process to unlock this xeon cpu

E3-1285V3(C0) xeon

Want to overclock it

Dont ask why either

I had a E3-1230 SB chip that would not overclock at all on a Gigabyte Z77 board, even though it presumably has turbo capability. I didn't consider it probative, but it was my experience.

So yous dont think its possible

It's theoretically possible, but not practical. Some circuits are fused off at the factory. If you can find a really cheap way of reconnecting those connections, then you'd likely win the Noble prize in physics. Otherwise it's going to be cheaper to just buy a K cpu.

At the time of AMD Socket A, settings like the default Multiplier, Voltage and MP capability weren't hardwired on the die, but were on some bridges on the PCB of the Processor. You used to be able to do mods either bridging/cutting those bridges, or doing pin mod with wires in the Socket.
After K8 era, I don't recall anyone ever trying to do something like that. I don't know if it was because it was proven to be impossible and the default settings are in read-only registers on the Processor die itself, or just because no one tried. At the very least, there have been some weird sucess recently modding with already old Hardware.

My PC toolbox still contains the 2B pencil I used to reconnect the cut links on my old Thunderbird Athlon . . . maybe I don't need that any more.

They are cut inside the CPU. There is no way to reconnect them.

even on LGA 775 some voltage/fsb mods were possible with "pin mods" (but never unlocking the multiplier, since the pentium II I think, Intel have locked the multiplier, and no one hacked it)...
but I never heard of any mods for 1155...

AMD also found a way to actually lock the locked cores (you could unlock cores and l3 from Deneb with bios solutions, but not with their current CPUs)
