There was recently a lot of hype about the 555BE being one of the more successful CPUs to be unlocked, especially the ones sold at Microcenter. In particular, it seems that most of the success is coming from the 1004CPMW and 1004EPMW batch codes. Since information seems to be all over the place, I just wanted to get a poll in a single thread directed specifically to success rates on these batch codes.

It would also be helpful if you indicated the following info:

1) Motherboard
2) BIOS updated? What revision?
3) Stock HSF or aftermarket?
4) Store?
5) And of course, which stepping batch code? 1004CPMW and 1004EPMW

1. Unlocked 555 BE in signature.
2. CPMW batch as I recall.
3. F3 BIOS on the gigabyte board.
4. Stock HSF on it but that's irrelevant.
5. Microcenter.

1) MSI 785GM-E51
2) shipping bios dated 9-09
3) Stock HSF
4) Frys
5) 1008FPMW

Unlocked all 4 cores- fine for normal desktop stuff but the entire system shuts down during the 2nd run of Prime- probably due to the old 420 W 20 pin PS I'm using. Won't be able to test stability until I can get a new PS. Unfortunately, the Sempron 140 I also got from Frys didn't unlock. It wouldn't even boot into windows.

microcenter combo deal for the 555BE ($99 for both cpu AND mobo):
http://www.microcenter.com/shopping_...u=554220660084

mobo is Biostar A760G M2+Socket AM2/AM2+ 760G mATX Motherboard

can it unlock w/this mobo to make the 555be a quad core?

and how much faster is the 555be over a x2 6000?
Worth the upgrade? can i reuse the ram?

1) Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P
2) Updated to F5 Bios (needed for unlocking cores)
3) CoolerMaster Hyper 212 Plus
4) MicroCenter
5) 1002MPMW (CACAC - C3 Stepping)

Unlocked all 4 cores and will run at 4.1GHz with 1.44v but temps get 55-57c; 4.0 GHz with 1.36v (46-47c); Runs fine at 3.8 GHz with 1.296v;

Running with only two cores, 4.0 GHz is easy with 1.296v and core temps of 30c. However, getting to 4.2 GHz on two cores takes ~1.36v and temps stabilize around 38c.

Win7 Ultimate 32-bit. I set this system up with the RC1 version last fall because I have an old video program I like that would not run in 64-bit. The AMD x3 720 I was using before the 555BE overclocked the same in this setup and its next home with Win7 Home Premium 64-bit.

Do you expect to see much difference between the 32 and 64 bit versions?
