Unlocking samsung scp-8100(s)

does anyone know a way or anywhere i can get a samsung scp-8100(s) cell phone unlocked the carrier is currently Sprint PCS and my mom wants to know if it is possible to unlock her phone and pay off a contract and swith using the same phone to Verizon. without buying a new phone..?

I don't think it is possible since Sprint and Verizon use 2 different frequecies for transmission.

You can't do that because Sprint runs on PCS while Verizon is CDMA. Unlocking only works for GSM phones I think.

The phone would work on the Verizon network and you can "unlock" the phone if you have the MSL from Sprint. The challenge might/would be getting Verizon to activate the phone. I know it cannot be done for sprint. If the ESN (phone id) isn't in Sprint's system they won't add it. Therefore you can only use a phone that was originally sold as a Sprint phone. I'm guessing Verizon works the same. And you most likely wouldn't be able to use the internet stuff nor be able to transfer pictures wirelessly. In the end, not worth it.
