unlocking problem!

Hi, Im having big problems with unlocking, heres the deal: I got the chip in, checked the internet on how to do it, then got super glue, a razor, some tape and bought some aluminum paint at walmart.

Now ok I started by filling in the pits, all was good it appeared! Then I chizzeled the paint down abit [without tape over the contacts tho..], then i applied the aluminum paint and cut between the bridges to ensure no overlapping. After I attempted to boot it up...and nothing! I get no video no beeps the system gets power and the fan runs but I just get no screen! So I take the cpu out and examine it some more, and I noticed that between the first two contacts i razored to hard cause I could see a little twinkilng of copper..could this be grounding my connection or something? I was thinking of maybe supergluing over the copper to ground it but I want to ask some of the pros on what to do cause this is my first time and I hope the chip isnt dead!! please give me some ideas!

Well if you did get some paint over that exposed spot you probably are grounding the chip. I didn't see and mention of the use of a magnifying apparatus so you might also have connected two bridges together if you weren't very careful.

Yes I checked the cpu with a magnifying glass and i dont see any paint, all i see is the razor cuts, with some copper showing through it. Could that copper be grounding the cpu even though ive cleaned it off, an if so should i super glue the copper?
thanks in advance

what chip are you unlocking?

i've had experience unlocking the xp 1700+ (and its related chips.. palomino core i think? its the one right after tbird) and found that if you ground out the worst thing that will happen is that the chip will be just stuck at its default multiplier. i dunno why its not posting for you.. can you get into bios? if you can then make sure its set to the default cpu speed, that works. if you cant get into bios then clear the cmos memory and reboot.

if none of that works then youve prolly physically damaged the chip. who told you to use a razor? that sounds downright scary...

Its a palomino xp 2000, and i get no video at all so i cant access the bios...im hoping its just a ground..

I took the battery out for about a minute, so that shouldve been long enough to clear it, and now i have all the paste off and its still not posting, could that be because of the razor/copper lines showing now, and could super glue ground that if possible?

Am I supposed to get 0 OHMs [using multimeter] on the top five conductive dots on the L1 bridge, and 100 OHMs on the bottom five dots? Cause thats what im getting and am wondering if that the top five should be getting OHMs that I might have a ground..anyone know about this?
