unlocking a administrator computer... reformat will do it?

I got a free pc from work, but its got admin locks on windows that wont let me do anythnig. Whats the easiest way to wipe it clean so i can install a fresh OS.

That's Probably Overkill. If it is running winXP, load up the system in safe mode, and log-in using the username:"administrator" and no password. 95% of the time, this will give you full admin privlages(sp?), then you can just set your account as an admin. Problem solved.

If your looking to reset the admin password, ERD Commander is what you want. :p

Accept ERD Commander doesn't work a lot of the time when the box is part of a network... Frankly, if you just need the box and have no use for any of the junk on it currently, a reformat with a fresh install would be my recommendation. It would take more time, but you would be starting fresh with the computer in a know state.

our you could use that linux username/password editor. burn it to cd and boot off the cd. it will allow you to clear any password for any username or create new user with admin rights
