I forgot all about this thread. :) Thanks for the offer, C. I'll probably do it some night this week when I get bored. I just hate the thought of taking it apart again and having to steady my hands for the paint job. :)

Stay away from My stores :(

Well I got bored and since I started overclocking again my first thought was
oh no heat what am I going to do? water cooling? Na, stay with air but must improve it.
I know buy $50.00+ s/h HSF, I don't think so. I know I'll build one that out performs
the $50.00 ones. So I went to work a quick plan in My head after some initial research
and off I went shopping. About $12.00 later I had materials to build two w/o fans all ready have enough fans :)

Took about 8hr to build, but initial results are impressive
This thing loves air flow increase flow and temps plummet

Here's some pic's
note there are 292 pins

Wow, that is very impressive. How did you get the heat transfer between the pins and the base of the heatsink to be efficient? I'd think there would be air and gaps making it inefficient.

I drilled the holes a little smaller and drove the pins in.
The heat transfer is excellent.
I will do a write up on how I made it with some numbers too.
I will post it here (new thread)Awsome HS For $6.00
