Unlock Athlon64 Multiplier

Is there anyway to unlock the multiplier on the Athlon64 S939s?

Only the FX is unlocked. There's no way to unlock the other A64s.

I thought most A64 CPU's were unlocked downwards and the FX series is the only series that are unlocked upwards.

I have an Athlon 64 2800+ with Chaintech vnf3-250 motherboard and it has multiplier settings all the way up to like 15x or 16x that I can choose. I havn't actually tried using these multiplier settings, but they aren't greyed out or anything.

I'm guessing even though the options are available when you try to set it higher than the stock multiplier it will just reset.

Another question is: What is the point of buying an FX-55 ClawHammer over an FX-53 ClawHammer if the FX-53 is unlocked anyway?? I mean they seem identical in every way except for what the multiplier is set at from the factory.

The FX-55 uses strained silicone just to make it runa t those speeds so an FX-53 might not be capable of that kind of speed.
