unknown problem with win2k

system: win2k, 512ram, p3 700.

it started when I had to shut down g6ftp/bulletproof ftp. it would not shut down so i cont-alt-del to shut it down and it said i had to close the debugger first. It was not obvious to me how to do that. So basically I was stuck with bulletproof ftp not closing and thus my computer would not shut down. so i did a hard reboot. upon reboot, my ftp program starts up and it basically sucks all the memory from my comp and becomes 'not responding'. So I'm back where I started.

I reboot in safe mode and remove g6 from my start up and reboot in regular mode. Now I run norton 2001 system works to correct any issues but it takes forever to even run and it won't correct the errors. (it detected 4 registry errors). I simply just blinks like its doing something but it never finishes. Also, on this reboot, icq didn't load... but it is set to.

I recently installed folder guard. that is the only change i've done.

I'd reboot in Safe Mode and uninstall Norton System Works - that software is crap anyway. It's just a useless resource hog.

Also, check in your registry to see what else is running on startup:
1) Start - Run - "regedit"
2) HK_Local_Machine - Software - Microsoft - Windows - Run
3) Look in there to see what is loaded and delete anything unnecessary
