a couple weeks ago i was trying to install windows on a new built system and it gave me an error: cannot copy file XXXXX.sys or .bat or .dll. it doesnt really matter because if i skipped that one it continued to miss more and more files as i had to skip them too, until upon completion and starting the final install part, it gave me a blue sceen and continued no further. i did this with several reformats and 3 different copies of windows. same problem. i was told by several people that it had to be the hard drive, so i sent it back to new egg and they sent me a new one, today i get it and try to install windows...and it happens again. i am in the process of of using a different cdrom drive ( my cdrom drive was a sata drive, as was my hard disk) so i tried a ide cd rom and it stopped at the same place. i figure its the disk. so i try x64 windows, i has a fatal error because it also failed to install parts of windows. what could it be??!! i have never had this much trouble getting a computer up and running! ps. i have 0701 bios.

specs...
asus p5w dh deluxe, c2d e6400, westndig caviar 250GB 16mbc, 2GB PQI turbo, plexor sata cdrom drive, ultra 500w psu, and i think thats it, i have tried legal copies of winxp home sp2, and win x64.

Your problems could be due to bad mem. Test your mem with memtest86.

http://www.memtest.org/

Burn the iso to a CD and boot with it. If you get any errors with both sticks installed, test each stick individually.
