unknown device in device manager

I just reinstalled xp home, i loaded all my hardware with drivers, and now I have an unknown device in device manager, I shut all onboard devices in bios, ive loaded the nvidia nforce drivers and I still have unknown device. I scanned for new hardware with no luck, Im running an ASUS A8nx board

did you shut off or turn on all onboard devices?
Did you load all the nforce drivers? perhaps there are more audio drivers to be loaded
What's missing? go through device by device and see what you have and see if you can narrow it down that way.

i disabled onboard, raid, lan, audio, are there any utilities out there that could find out?

Uninstall it from Device Manager and see if it's redetected at next boot. It may not be valid.

Do you have any USB devices connected? Could be one of those.

If you can't get the driver with the above program, get the manufacturer and device ID of the device. Go to the property page of the device in question and then the Details tab. Look here:
