I have an issue with three of my unix server unable to resolve their respective windows dns server, I am able to ping by IP. none of the unix boxes have dns on them, just a resolv.conf file pointing to their dns server. I was able to ping the windows boxes from a variety of other clients and was able to do an nslookup as well. all of these clients were windows xp. can anyone help me figure out why i can't resolve names with these unix boxes?

what is the contents of your resolv.conf? Windows runs its own type of name service, which doesnt rely on DNS, which by default, *nix boxes do not run. IT can be enabled in resolv.conf normally, though I do not remember exactly how. Will see if I can find it, or someone else will probably beat me to it..
