I saw the response, no need to PM me.

I don't have much experience with HP-UX, and nothing in the past 4 years. Try apropos mute or man -k mute to find information on it.

Hopefully you have the audio mixer installed in cde. If there is a little picture of a spearker in that huge ugly bar at the bottom (lower left or right, by the 6 desktop buttons, I don't remember exactly wherer), click it. Otherwise, if you are talking about the beep, /usr/dt/bin/dtstyle will let you control that.

What hardware are you using? I have an hp c3600 at work, also running 11i (actually, part of my job is I'm on a help desk for these things).

EDIT: you work for GE in Schenectady, call *421-7400 option 2 and you can talk to me (or one of the 3 other guys).

EDIT AGAIN: we don't install the audio stuff by default, see edit #1 above, and we'll take care of you.

Just a quick question; are you asking about sound in wincenter, or other sounds?

nah, just the sounds in wincenter

There is a preference panel in wincenter, (I can't remember what the menu choices are unless they're right in front of me), that allows you to turn off the 'alert' sounds. This includes all other sounds, except the first half of the login sound.

Honestly, I don't really understand why we don't install the UNIX audio stuff by default. We get a fair number of users calling us because they can't control the volume of some of the online training material.

On a side note: What do you think of the default color scheme? Isn't it about the ugliest thing you've ever seen?
