anybody know unix commands to move a file from one directory to another?? help appreciated...

also, anybody a unix expert?? im gonna be asking some questions.. or is there a good website for unix.... any help appreciated.. thanks in advance..

mv to move files

mv .htaccess public_html/dir/dir

your context might've been confusing nateholtrop.

mv /one/directory/filename /another/directory/

Always a good idea to cp (copy) then remove

This way unix doesn't eat the file/dir if you mess up.
