This weekend the Longhorns are scheduled to play the University of Houston. The University of Houston contracted to provide 10,000 seats to Longhorn fans through the UT ticket office. In order to buy tickets for that game, Longhorn faithful had to buy two other UH games as well. 4,000 of those tickets were in a section setup temporarily for this game. The seats have just been declared unsafe, the UH president went to the top of those stands and said he wouldn't want to be up there with his grandchildren. So the 4,000 seats have been moved to Hoffeins Pavillion, which i think is UH's basketball arena. Those fans would have to watch the game on a jumbotron. The UH athletic director has not made himself available to UT athlestics director DeLoss Dodds. Dodds unilaterally called up the Rice University athletics director to find out if Rice Stadium (still the best football stadium in Texas) would be available to use. Another option would be to play the game in the Astrodome. UH is suck! The game is 4 days away and UH can't fulfill its contract, we don't know where the game is going to be played. Move it to Rice.
And now I just found out the game was originally to be played in the dome, but UH moved it to its campus to make it a big event (getting trounced, ha!) for its alumni, etc. oh, and the game will be on ESPN2. so they have to finalize any move by friday morning for the TV crews.
