As long as the digital edition is the same as the textbook (braille) version, there should be no problems with universities promoting ebook readers.

One issue might be the promotion of one specific supplier/brand of ebook reader and reading materials; some people might not like Amazon as a company, might not like the kindle reader itself etc (e-ink displays = teh suck for example). What's to say the kindle and amazon's ebook store is the best value for money? Or even if they are now, that this will remain the case forever?

Examples are legio of companies ending up in a dominating market position and then raising prices, knowing full well they have cornered a large part of the market and that people will have to pay even though things just got more expensive.
