are there universal win98 usb thumb drivers?

i got a unmarked usb thumb drive so i don't know where to get the drivers from, but i want to use it on an old win98 machine.

win me doesn't require drivers right? and since it's just win98, isn't there some file to install the universal drivers from win me to win98?

Panasonic made a Universal DOS USB driver but I don't think there is
a Windows driver due to licensing arrangements.

If you have win98se, this is a rollup of drivers and security updates. http://exuberant.ms11.net/98sesp.html This is for win98se only. I used ver 1.6.2 and it was useful for this exact purpose. The last time I checked they had a newer version which I will apply if I encounter dificulties.

In the Unofficial 98se service pack they had a USB memory stick driver in version 1.62. They removed it in version 2.0. He guides people to this driver which he says is better than his. I've used both and have had good luck with either.

Goofy file download site

I have found that if a system had the 1.62 version, and the 2.0 was installed over the top, the USB driver kept working.
