I really think you need to elaborate on that a little bit. It's pretty vague.

No, we're seeing the peasants being pitted against one another so the plutarchy can continue their pillaging spree.

Absolutely. Both sides of the peons are fighting like hell when the big wigs are sitting at the same bars laughing their asses off at the whole thing.

A unionized public employee, a tea party activist and a CEO are sitting at a table with a plate of a dozen cookies in the middle of it. The CEO takes 11 of the cookies, turns to the tea partier and says, "Watch out for that union guy... he wants a piece of your cookie!

Yes. Class warfare is a standard tactic used by liberals to agitate their base and convince people that societies problems are caused by the rich.

So far its been pretty disappointing as peasant fights go with just a lot of yelling and whining. You know how these wrestling matches go. First the two wrestlers have to spend time in front of the camera dissing each other and demonstrating how angry and determined they are before going at it. Even then, it's all fake and the only people likely to get hurt are those sitting in the front row. If things get out of hand and the audience riots they make sure they have plenty of security on hand.

Damn those liberals. I knew it was them that beat Rodney King and caused that riot. Must have been them that blew up the Oklahoma Federal building too! Next thing you know they'll be forming militias and refusing to pay income taxes.

It sure seems like people are trying to test the veracity of that saying at this time.

A unionized employee, tea partier, and a CEO are vying for the same position. The CEO is selected to the position by being smarter than everyone else. The unionized employee then turns to the tea partier and says, "A unionized public employee, a tea party activist and a CEO are sitting at a table with a plate of a dozen cookies in the middle of it..."

Meh. Congress people used to shoot each other not to mention civil war. I'd say we are pretty united. United in credit card spending to avoid having to make tough decisions.

are we witnessing this currently?

discuss...

I've always found the premise "United we stand, divided we fall" to be nonsense. The truth is that we're both united and divided simultaneously, constantly shifting priorities in thoughts and actions to appear either more united or more divided.

The competing values in our politics are freedom and equality. "Conservatives favor freedom and are willing to accept inequalities of outcome from a free market. Liberals tend to favor equality of outcome and are willing to sacrifice and circumscribe freedom to get it." -George Will

Political parties are the systematic organization of our hatreds. These hatreds are often conflicted and contradictory, resulting in conflicted and contradictory actions by our elected politicians. These conflicts and contradictions aren't as much a burden as they are a blessing. "The crooked timber of humanity" need not be straightened. That "crooked timber" is the root of our adaptability (which in itself is the key to our survival) and it enumerates the struggle by which we define our lives.

It used to be that even though you were on opposite clubs (parties), there was a still a common goal of for the good of the country.

That has shifted to the good of my pocket fuck the rest.

When our ballots include a imaginative choice of plutarchy A or plutarchy B there really isn't much hope for the Democratic process to fix the problem. It's difficult to imagine a solution in our life time.

When the people get upset they misplace their anger. Not towards their own party to dissolve it of its wrongs, but instead they use our tragedies to fuel their attack against the 'enemy' party. They ramp up the rhetoric and lead the two sides closer to violence with one another, but regardless of who wins the country remains in the same miserable state.

We are stagnant and embattled. The outcome cannot be good.

When times are rough, fight harder. The problem is our attacks are misplaced. We're fighting the wrong targets.

The Tea Party, for example, has to be used to destroy the GOP. It has utterly failed if it does not wish to achieve this goal. When they use their efforts to bash Democrats I just shake my head and wish them a nice little footnote in history. It'll read "some people got upset and did nothing". For that is all they'll deserve.

When people are upset, the first leaders they need to get rid of are their own.

Vaguely we post,
yet verily we continue,
to the dawn of tomorrow,
in the blink of an eye,
and other such bullshit.
