how long is it going to take for the Us population to double, or reach 500 million people? in my area of marysville michigan, the city size really hasnt grown much. it's hanging out at under 10,000 people for the past 10 years or so.

We're actually around 300 million, but our population is aging and less people are having kids. Last I heard the population isn't expected to rise significantly for some time.

It was my understanding that in terms of birth/death rates we're right at ZPG, but because of immigration (legal or otherwise) the population is still growing.

Vermont population hasn't gone up much, it's because our greatest export is our kids, as they say.

so if we have a net 1 person gain every 10 seconds, and there are 300 million peoples, in 3000 million seconds it will double

3000000000 second = 95.129376 year

i am not so good at maths, is that right?

That is great! But that means that our workers need to build more technical, scientific, and useful skills. Otherwise cheap labor and major exports will always win out.
