what are some unique cool jobs you had or wanted to try .. can recommend ?

i am in between jobs .. and before i start something where i might get tied up for a looooong time...

now i am free as a bird .. and no relationship .. and am ok financially .. so getting paid is not a factor or should i say not a priority ..

i wanted to try some cool odd jobs .. challenging .. or not .. well paid .. or not .. get interesting experience ..

* like i wanted to go out on one of those fishing boats ... like in TV show .. Deadliest Catch .. for a trip or two ... but seems dangerous .. would be good when i was in my 20s .. now i am 34 years young

* i would love to join some rescue team .. even volunteer basis ... (i am a US citizen as it often matters what team you can join.. have BA in CIS - data science .. loooove technology .. so i could be a tech part of the team )

* i would love to help make some documentary .. be part of a team .. travel .. but as a novice what i will be a boom mic man? well it is paid travel ... and experience ... is what i am after ..

i have dozen other ideas ..

but would LOVE to hear your ideas .. suggestion .. and advice ..

thank you ..

Most job that are even half-way interesting are interesting because they require some set of skills that may take years, certainly months, to develop.

A fishing boat isn't going to take you out for a "trip or two" unless you pay them to be a tourist. Even then, it's doubtful. Their liability insurance probably doesn't cover them for losing passengers like it does for losing employees.

How about joining the Peace Corps? I'm guessing you're not looking for that kind of commitment, though.

Roadie, support for scientific outposts/expeditions, cad design/support for custom automotive, tiny home construction.

Roadie is a terrible job if you like money or any semblance of a regular life. I know a few and when they go on tour their life is fun but exhausting. When their band is not no tour they really don't have income or the ability to hold a good job.

Go to the Onion and read the job descriptions for the American Voices folks. You'll eventually find your dream job.

Mercenary

"But I've never been in the military. And I've only shot a rifle once and my shoulder hurt for a week. I'm kind of overweight and I also have asthma. Will they still take me? I wouldn't get shot at or anything really dangerous like that, would I? Do the mercenaries need IT guys?

Let's be brutally honest and rephrase the question. I think I know the answer already.

"I'm between IT jobs. What short-term job can I get with zero other job skills, where the employer would understand that I'll only be there for a month or two at most?"

Volunteer at a state park, or laborer on a construction job. Highway construction is probably pretty interesting for people that don't know how it all goes together, and he could learn carpentry or something.

That job is... interesting.. Lots of big nasty chicks lol.

Not per a beautician I know. She said some slobs getting one for the wedding night but not that often. Her definition of slob may be different than ours but she is very critical of women. I'd wager its a higher standard than yours or mine.
I do think building a book of business would be tough unless you're gay or extremely good looking guy.

She's straight so her definition of slob may be different than ours but she is very critical of women.

Pretty sure being a a extremely good looking guy would make it even more difficult.
