actually, the link posted above seems to indicate that bush did have something to do with clearing the air.
EPA did declare the air clean.
Then blame the EPA. It's not Bush's fault the EPA fvcked up.
did you read the article?
the day that EPA head Christie Todd Whitman issued a press release saying she was pleased to note that the air was safe to breathe, the EPA still hadn?t completed testing for mercury, cadmium, lead, dioxin, PAHs, or PCBs. The Inspector General?s report later revealed that the EPA was required to send all of its press statements to the White House Council on Environmental Quality, which ran them through a heavy clean-and-rinse cycle before releasing them to the public, transforming modest yet cautionary public advisories into cheerful proclamations that the air was clean.
first of all, Christie Todd Whitman had NO BUSINESS being head of EPA, that type of appointment should be left up to chemists, not bad former governors.
next of all, she is in no position to make an educated decision
next, all reports were sent toe the white house before being released to the press, hence Bush is Indirectly responsible.
quit trying to white wash bush's role. there is NO EXCUSE for what happened there.
i, fortunately was not on the island when it happened, but i was very close, i was near giants stadium when the attack happened and started to drive home immediately when i saw the news of the two planes hitting the twin towers, i was just past exit 12 on NJ Turnpike when i saw the tower collapse in my review mirror. it was a devastating sight.
but to declare the air safe that day is just ludicrous beyond imagination.
