I tried installing a copy of windows 2000 pro on my computer which I just built -
unfortunately the cd key isnt working -
I just received my copy of windows xp in the mail but I cant install it because the windows 2000 program keeps booting up to the part where I have to enter the CD key-
how do I uninstall windows 2000 pro from the BIOS?
Thanx in advance

you gotta go into the BIOS and make sure you are booting from the CD. normally, your computer is set up to boot from the hard disk... you have to change that so that it checks the CD-drive to see whether it is bootable or not

It's impossible to uninstall an OS from the BIOS. The BIOS is contained on a small EEPROM chip on your motherboard and the OS is contained soley on your hard drive.

I would suggest reformatting the hard drive. Do the following:

1. Set BIOS to boot from CDROM first.
2. Go into the XP install it will tell you "other operating/incompatible system detected, overwrite?" or something very similar. Choose yes and reformat the drive in NTFS.

Problem solved. 🙂
