Uninstalling nvidia drivers

Hi all,

If I need to uninstall the old nvidia drivers, will the add/remove option in the control panel remove them all???

If not, where do I need to go look to clean them out and what files should I look for????

Any links or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

If you are going back with an nVidia card then just the routine uninstall should be sufficient but if you are going with a different type of vid card like an ATI then you might have to go into the registry and delete any lines referring to the nvidia card.

boot into safe mode and then use the add_remove to uninstall the drivers.

this usually does a little cleaner job.

I think I read somewhere about a program called "Nvidia detonator destroyer". This is supposed to remove everything from Nvidia in the registry and hard drive. Go to www:/geforcezone.com/tweaks.htm

I used detonator destroyer to remove Nvidia registry remnants prior to installing ATI driver. It found 4 Nvidia registry entries left after running Add/Remove. ATI driver installation was flawless after running det Destroyer.

Edit: Above is for 98SE. I know of no program like Det Destroyer for XP OS.

Hope this helps!
