Uninstalled XP SP3 - seems to have corrupted Outlook .PST

So, I installed the Windows XP SP3 RC on my IBM T41 - but it seems to have interfered with the IBM HDD-head-park software (my guess - BSOD whenever I physically moved the laptop). So I uninstalled it, and everything seems to work, but for Outlook, which won't start due to a corrupted .PST!

I tried to run the ScanPST program as requested in the error message, but ScanPST won't even complete the scan. So, what can I do next?

As an "aside", I do have a backup (thanks to WHS!), but due to connection problems the last one is 20 days old, and I hate to lose the emails etc. from the last 20 days.

Any advise would be very appreciated.

Thanks.

Edit for Spelling.

Have you tried chkdsk? I just had a client's laptop that had a bunch of bad clusters that chkdsk was able to fix enough to let me copy/open a corrupted .PST file.

I long-ago realized that computers ONLY crash when your backup system isn't working properly. :p

Yeah, and there is always a guy named "Murphy" involved, isn't he?

But "chkdsk" was the first thing I did, and it didn't find any errors, and ScanPST still doesn't do the whole scan. Are there any more competent scan&repair programs out there?
