I have Mandrake dual booting with Windows on a machine and I want to remove it. How exactly would I do this? Can I just reformat the linux partision? How would I do this?

You may have to reconfigure the MBR because if I'm not mistaken the Linux distro changed it ( ie LILO or GRUB ) when you installed it, and when you delet that part of the partition you will be deleting it, so be careful.

You're going to need to fix your MBR.

-Boot from your XP CD, go into the repair console
-Type "fixmbr" - accept whatever it is( been a while)
-Reboot.... should be set.

I deleted my linux partisions through disk management so there is a bit of free space not being used so how do I resize my windows partision without using a program like partision magic?

I believe you need to use a third party product like Partition Magic. Windows Disk Management can't resize partitions.

You need a third party product, but you can use a free one like the Linux-based QTparted, which I believe is on the Knoppix 3.6 CD.

Yup, that's my experience. Partition magic works though.
