Anybody beating a 3000 score with a Reference R9 290X will impress me.

Best I've done with a Gigabyte R9 290X, with Alpida vRam, with my i7 2700k idling at 1600Mhz, using either the Reference Cooler screaming at 95% or the Arctic Accelero Xtreme III is 2998 with card clocked at approx 1200-1500, with out artifacts, with either a 156 or 162mV off-set.

The Reference cooler does a good job cooling the VRM at under 80C but the GPU hit's 94C and the the card throttles. The Accelero Xtreme III does an excellent job at cooling the GPU but VRM temps hit's a scary 110C+C - Both combo's max at just under a 3000 Score with this Bench.

I'm sure I would have went further with Hynix vRam.

I'm waiting a back order Black ICE 280x60x140mm Rad from NCIX to post a XSPC Razor R9 290X with the CPU pegged at 4.8G's.

Wish the card had Hynix - If you want Hynix, suggest you buy either ASUS or Sapphire in regards to Reference R9 290X cards but I have to say Gigabyte builds a hefty card.

driver for 270x should be fine, right?
it´s the same, isn´t it?

You need to update your BIOS to support UEFI graphics cards.

you think the 990fx sabertooth revision 2 uefi will be up to the job?
if not i´m just do the uefi update with the old card in place

Its your CPU thats holding it back, have a look at your GPU usage chart with stock and OC CPU, massive difference and also nice performance gains.

I ran both cards at 1100/1500 with a stock CPU and it was slower than stock cards with OC CPU.. But only thing that matters to me now, is how many kH/s it does so no time wasting tinkering with benchmark runs.

Link? I don't think it makes much difference for 1 card, but not sure about crossfire (or possibly trifire down the road)

just killed my fx 8350 whe trying to get it out of the socket for mobo change
4 pins are broken off, they were still in the socket
maybe it was broken all along and that´s where my instability even at sock clocks came from? could it even run with 4 broken pins?

i think, i cut the pins off when lifting the edge of the cpu with a knife because it was stuck
