Unified Drivers

As we know Nvidia and ATI use unified drivers optimized to make all cards perform well with the latest cards performing the best.

If Nvidia or ATI were to release a set of drivers for Geforce6 and Xxx series and up would there be any improvements. Obviously the drivers would be smaller but a lot less problems to worry about, and more time can be spent tweaking the latest video cards.

Would there be any IQ and Speed improvements with a completely new set of drivers. The beginnings of a new unified driver series.

I really, really doubt you would see any speed or IQ improvements (why would you think you would?). They would be smaller, and wouldn't work with the older cards. That's about it.

Mmmh, I think you miss the point. Nvidia/ATI does make specific ahencement for say, the GeForce6 series even thougth the unified driver works with a wide range of cards.

Don't go thinking they are not trying there best to boost new generation cards because those change in driver do not affect aged one. They just make different paths in the driver.

peace.
