unidentified skull

I'm going nuts.. I found a skull, thought "that's neat, I've never seen one of those before"
Now, my friends and I can't figure out what it is... We've seen plenty of skulls, but not one like this.
(or else, we're forgetting something)
It's about 6 inches long.

Pics (of course)

Nope, none of the above.... I've been searching all over online, and can't find anything like it.
I'm stumped.

I should say also that I found this in western NY, along the bank of a stream. (thus it could be aquatic or non-aquatic - I find many skulls along streams... injured animals often die along streams, or drown and get washed away by streams.)

Maybe it is NOT a skull?

Yea...the underneat view sorta looks like its backbone is right there...maybe you got the pelvic bone...

As sward666 stated, it's not a skull, it's most likely a pelvis. Note the fused vertebra, and the sockets for the leg bones.

Yes, that was dumb of me to think it's a skull... just the way it was lying there, it looked like a skull with the eye sockets being where the ball & socket joints would go. Definitely a pelvis, though I'm not sure which animal.
