Anyone know the size of the tiny silver screws used to hold the bottom of the case in place? I upgraded my hard drive recently and lost one.

Only in Apple-land. Hopefully they'll give me one because I don't need a whole set.

Holy smokes, those are some expensive screws! Granted it's a whole set, but still it's $60...

I think part of the reason is that since you can't really buy them from Apple, they only way to get them is from a system pull. So, Supply & Demand take over. They have basically the only supply.

I completely forgot about that avenue. They will almost certainly hook you up. The bottom is user removeable so you can replace the RAM/HDD, no one is perfect, screws will get lost. They gave me a set of the little plastic/rubber feet that went on the pre-unibody MacBook Pro/PowerBooks since my G4's had fallen off. They then promptly fell off again within a couple months, crummy design.

Wow, Apple even rapes you with screws.

Apple doesn't sell the screws at all, and I think you'd be hard pressed to find a laptop manufacturer who does. iFixit sets that price. It has nothing to do with Apple. Also, shame on you for not even trying to use the obvious pun. :p

Dell, HP, Asus, Toshiba, Fujitsu all sell screw kits. Last set I ordered for an HP was $12 and had about 45 screws total.

-edit-

Actually I just checked and I have ordered screw kits for the Titanium G4's also. I have since let my "apple support" lapse so no idea if they still sell them on the tech site.
