unfamiliar with newsgroups

What is an alt.binary newsgroup? What software is needed to read it? For example the following is an excerpt -

=ybegin part=24 line=128 size=14839187 name=12119603.MP3
=ypart begin=14720001 end=14839187
#0sõèW³?.....etc


And it's all gibberish in Outlook Express - does the MP3 mean it's audio? If so how do I play it?

Outlook isn't made for Binary groups. Newsbin Pro is more suitable for that. It combines all the parts togather and shows files as one. Very easy to use.

Free Agent from Forte Inc is a good easy to use free newsreader.

But I like Newsbin Pro better 🙂
