Unexplicable (to me) computer crashes

Well, I've had my new build for a couple weeks and I've had some problems with it being quirky from day one, but just getting around to posting now.

Q9300
2x2GB DDR2 1066
Gigabyte UD3P
1x150GB Raptor
1X250GB Seagate 7200.8
8800GS 384mb
Antec TruePower 550W PSU

After my initial install of Windows (7, Beta) everything was looking fine. Since installation of all my drivers and everything went without a hitch I decided to go immediately into overclocking. Got her Prime stable for 12 hours at 3.33GHz, 1.3v

Came back to my computer and tried to start it up, as it was in sleep mode. Computer tried to boot up, but just started looping. Had to turn off/on my PSU, got back into Windows after that.

Was like... hmmm? Checked Prime 95 again that night... stable. Same problem with sleep repeated. Whatever, turned off sleep mode, I'll just shut my computer down if I'm not going to be around it for a while. After use, shut my computer down. Next time I try to turn it on, boot loop. PSU on/off. Now will boot. Off for a while, boot loop. PSU on/off, now will boot. Weird! Also, I would get some random freezes within my OS when I WASN'T using the computer. At this point it would run P95 on hours at end, but sometimes would randomly freeze if I left my desk for 5 minutes and came back.

Decided to go back to BIOS defaults... still does the freeze thing, still does cold boot loops.

Can anyone point me to where my problem might reside? Thanks...

(BTW all my rails seem fine when idling and loading the CPU)

Have you made sure your ram is getting the right voltage? I know a lot of 1066MHz ram requires 2.0-2.1 volts. Maybe try bumping it up slightly if it needs it?

I would double check to make sure your PSU is adequate for the components. No expert here just what comes to my mind.

I agree thats a decent system for such a lower end PSU. Maybe not lower but its an older model. Get something a bit better like an EarthWatts series from Antec.

Well I switched to the F8 bios and so far I haven't had any of the problems I mentioned before... that could've been it. Although I have a hunch that mpilchfamily might be right and my PSU is in line for an upgrade. It IS a good PSU though, the rails are rock solid. I'll keep an eye on my system and try out the sleep thing later to see if that problem has cleared up as well.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Yeah ram is 2.2v (recommended, warrantied up to 2.3v)
